    Culture / Entertainment

    Welcome to Collington Farms, located in Mebane, North Carolina, a beautiful town with the unique position of being between the Triad and Triangle. Mebane residents can easily drive East or West to work in the professional Metro areas, and make competitive wages, while driving home to a tranquil environment where your neighbors still wave as they drive by. Mebane is about three hours to both the mountains of Western North Carolina and the beautiful coastline of Eastern North Carolina. Mebane has a strong parks and recreation program, several golf courses, two city pools, community lakes for boating and fishing and is also home to several wineries. The historic down town area is only minutes from Collington Farms and has recently been refurbished, yet its appearance remains unchanged; and the quaint storefronts and the old court house are now home to upscale boutiques and shopping, one of a kind restaurants, and a martini bar. It is also home to the famous A&M Grill, a BBQ hotspot well known to coinsurers of the revered Southern food and part of North Carolina's famous "BBQ Trail". The restaurant has been in business for over sixty years and has been featured on the PBS special, The Best Tarheel Barbecue: Murphy to Manteo. Downtown Mebane has many events, including the concert series, "Clay Street after Work" which takes place every third Friday of each month and features live music. Events and festivals of all kinds can be attended throughout the year, including Shop and Stroll, Sunfest, and the Mebane Dogwood Festival which draws people from all over the state.

    Education

    Collington Farms is convenient to many of North Carolina's most prestigious academic institutes such as Duke, Elon, and The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; as well as many of North Carolina's Community College campuses.

    Medical

    Collington Farms is in close proximity to some of the best medical facilities in the country including Duke University Hospital and UNC Medical Center. Collington Farms is also located less than a mile from Alamance Medical Center.

    Schools

    Collington Farms offers home sites in both Orange and Alamance Counties allowing for the choice of two county school systems: Alamance, which includes Audrey Garrett Elementary, Hawfields Middle, and Eastern Alamance High; and Orange which includes Efland Cheeks Elementary, Gravelly Hill Middle, and Cedar Ridge High. There is also one private school in Mebane, Bradford Academy, which is a Classical Christian school. Both Orange and Alamance Counties are also home to several private and charter schools.

    Shopping

    The City of Mebane has a number of specialty stores and restaurants downtown and is also home to a Super Wal-Mart, a Lowe's Fresh Mart, and a Food Lion. Alamance Crossings Shopping Center, located in Burlington, North Carolina, is approximately fifteen miles from downtown Mebane and includes anchors such as Hudson-Belk, JCPenney and Dillard's. The shopping center also includes several restaurants and a multiplex theatre. The Streets at South Point is a super regional shopping center located in Durham, North Carolina. A 28 mile drive from Mebane, the Streets at South Point include North Carolina's first Nordstrom department store, Macy's and many other high end retailers. Tanger Factory Outlet Centers has plans to build a 350,000 square foot retail center in Mebane, a project valued at more than $15 million, according to construction estimates. The estimated date for completion is 2011.

    Transportation

    Mebane is a unique city of much desired convenience. Interstates 40 and 85 both go through Mebane.Piedmont International Airport (GSO) is located 35 minutes West and Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) is located 40 minutes East. Orange County Transportation also offers a shuttle to the UNC Chapel Hill area. Mebane is approximately 20 miles from the city of Durham, 18 miles from Chapel Hill, and approximately 35 miles from the city of Raleigh. The city of Burlington is approximately 12 miles West of Mebane, Elon College, North Carolina is about 19 miles West and the city of Greensboro is 34 miles from the city of Mebane.
