    About the Area

    Fieldstone Farm is located in southeast Charlotte in Union County, which is one of the fastest growing counties in North Carolina and has the state's second highest median household income. Known for excellent schools, reasonable cost of living, and a variety of housing choices, Union County is no longer Charlotte's best kept secret. The town of Indian Trail provides the ideal backdrop for small town living with big city accessibility. Its proximity to I-485 and I-74 provides easy access to all the major employment centers of Charlotte, as well as excellent shopping and dining. In 30 minutes, our residents can be in north Charlotte enjoying the recreation opportunities of Lake Norman, Charlotte Motor Speedway (home of NASCAR), and the shopping and dining in and around the Concord Mills Mall area. Or head 20 minutes west and enjoy all the upscale retail and entertainment venues of the Ballantyne area.

    City Overview

    Charlotte is a city known for its southern hospitality and trademark trees. Alive with blooms in the spring and colorful foliage in the fall, Charlotte enjoys a high quality of life with temperate weather, a plethora of outdoor recreational activities, excellent schools, numerous opportunities for continuing education, first class health care, and a wide variety of sporting and cultural events. Charlotte has been named one of America's most livable cities and ranks first for the most educated workforce. It's the second largest banking center and the sixth in number of Fortune 500 headquarters.

    Culture / Entertainment

    Whether you are a sports fan or a supporter of the arts, Charlotte has something to offer. With two professional sports teams, the Carolina Panthers football team and the Charlotte Bobcats basketball team, you can always find a game to watch. Don't forget about the Charlotte Knights minor league baseball team and Charlotte Checkers hockey team too. Charlotte's biggest claim to fame is that it's home to NASCAR and Charlotte Motor Speedway. Check out the new NASCAR Museum uptown, along with the endless supply of art galleries. The Discovery Place IMAX Theater and IMAGINON Children's Theater, the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, and Verizon Wireless Amphitheater offer endless options in live theater and concerts.

    Education

    Charlotte has many options for higher education. With 34 colleges and universities, including Queens College, Davidson College, the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and Central Piedmont Community College nearby, there are numerous options for undergraduate and graduate studies. Johnston and Wales Culinary School is located uptown and has options for both full time and continuing education.

    Medical

    Two of the largest hospital systems in the southeast are in Charlotte. Carolinas HealthCare System and Presbyterian Healthcare have multiple hospital locations across the Charlotte metro area, including the state of the art Levine's Children's Hospital at Carolinas Medical Center. With a wide range of specialists and nationally recognized teaching and research institutions nearby, the spectrum of services available to area residents continues to grow while the cost of health care remains below the national average.

    Recreation

    If you enjoy spending time outdoors, check out the National Whitewater Center or one of the many parks throughout Charlotte for hiking, mountain biking, or picnicking. Head north to Lake Norman or south to Lake Wylie for water sports, boating, and fishing. Located in the Piedmont Region, Charlotte is within a two hour drive of the beautiful national parks and forests, allowing you to enjoy the mountain views, fall colors, and winter sports. Hop in your car and head east to visit the North Carolina Outerbanks and its many pristine beaches.

    The Union County Public School System (UCPS) is nationally recognized for its academic performance. Ninety percent of Union County public schools made the top three highest state test score designations. SAT scores are consistently above the state and national averages.     There are plenty of shopping, dining, and recreational opportunities within a short drive of Fieldstone Farm. Residents can shop for groceries and household necessities within two miles of the community. Or, hop on I-485 or I-74 for a short 20 minute drive to take advantage of the shopping and entertainment venues in the Matthews and Ballantyne areas of south Charlotte. A quick spin up I-485 ends at Concord Mills Mall, North Carolina's #1 tourist attraction that features 200 stores, including manufacturer and retail outlets, off-price retailers, and unique speciality stores like Bass Pro Shop. A NASCAR themed fun park and a 24-screen AMC theater are also part of the fun. Nearby, visit the newly constructed Great Wolf Lodge which features a year-round indoor water park with fun for the whole family. Work on your golf game at the nearby public golf courses, or visit the Siskey Family YMCA or the Monroe Aquatics and Fitness Center for swimming and exercise.

    Transportation

    Charlotte is located at the crossroads of I-77 and I-85 near the North Carolina and South Carolina border. With an average of 644 airline flights daily, Charlotte Douglas International Airport provides easy access both domestically and internationally, with non-stop service to 127 destinations. The Charlotte LYNX light-rail system gives South Charlotte residents a quick alternative to commuting uptown, and the CATS bus system provides public transportation options throughout the city.

    • Take Exit 51 to merge onto US-74 E toward Monore
    • Travel 2.8 miles and turn left at stoplight onto Unionville Indian Trail Rd
    • Travel 1.8 miles and turn left at stop sign to stay on Unionville Indian Trail Rd
    • Travel 0.8 miles and turn left onto Poplin Rd
