5 miles south of Arnold is the historic town of Kimmswick which offers a chance to step back into the less hurried days of the 1800's. Enjoy a walk through a beautiful town with many one-of-a-kind shops that will inspire you. The cordial atmosphere of our restaurants will remind you of a time long past. If you want to stay the night, enjoy a stay at a bed and breakfast or charming guest house. 6 miles from Arnold is the Mastodon State Historic Site which contains an important archaeological and paleontological site - the Kimmswick Bone Bed. Bones of mastodons and other now-extinct animals were first found here in the early 1800s. The area gained fame as one of the most extensive Pleistocene ice age deposits in the country and attracted scientific interest worldwide. 15 miles from Arnold-Villa Antonio Winery is a family owned winery located near St. Louis, Missouri; about 20 minutes south on I-55 from I-270. The winery facilities feature an 1800's era log cabin with wine tasting room, a grape arbor and large deck, the four seasons pavilion and a beautiful fountain patio. They specialize in wines made from French-American hybrid grapes which are grown on the property. Their Italian heritage is reflected in their food, wine, and hospitality.
