About the Area
Woodstock is located in McHenry County Illinois, 51 miles northwest of the Chicago Loop. Woodstock was originally called Centerville to attract the seat of the McHenry County Government in 1842. The Centerville site was chosen when Alvin Judd donated a two-acre public square for county offices. The square became the hub of a village plat recorded in 1844. In 1845 Centerville was renamed Woodstock. Today, "The Square" remains a huge part of historic Woodstock.

Each year Woodstock celebrates Groundhog Day with a series of special family-fun events including a walking tour of film locations, dinner dances, movie showings, movie symposium, and much more. Woodstock is also home to the Opera House on the square where residents can enjoy a wide variety of plays for all ages. Woodstock Square offers unique eateries, shops, and a movie theater with convenient transportation from the Metra to Downtown Chicago.

Medical facilities in the area include Centegra Hospital which is a Blue Distinction Center and was listed as one of 50 top-ranked health systems by Thomson Reuters' 100 Top Hospitals in August of 2009. They have since earned multiple Joint Commission Accreditations, Outstanding Acheivement in Oncology in 2010, and is a Top 100 Best Place to Work by Becker's Hospital Review.
Recreation
The Woodstock Recreation Department provides a wide variety of programs for all ages including sports, arts, fitness, aquatics, special events, and senior programs. Playing fields and courts and pavilions in the city parks are available to the public and are scheduled by the Recreation Department.
Schools
Sweetwater students attend School District 200 which includes the brand new Woodstock North High School, Northwood Middle School, and Mary Endres Elementary School. There are also private school options available in Woodstock such as St. Mary's Elementary School, Woodstock Christian School, and Marian Central Catholic High School. For continuing educational, McHenry County College is less than 5 miles from Sweetwater.

Shopping
Woodstock Square is a great place to shop if you are looking for a unique gift or just want to spend the afternoon window shopping. Sweetwater is conveniently located near several major grocery stores like Jewel Osco and Wal-Mart. Crystal Lake, just a short drive from Sweetwater, offers major shopping as well. Transportation
Just minutes from Sweetwater is the Woodstock Metra station near The Square. Residents can commute into Chicago for work or fun. O'Hare International Airport is less than an hour away. PACE bus services is low cost and available for residents to use when travelling within Woodstock city limits.
