    This region is known for its higher education. There are 3 ACC schools: UNC, Duke, NC State University. There are also other universities, such as: Shaw University, NC Central University, St. Augustine College, Peace College, Meredith College, and Wake Tech.

    Recreation

    Raleigh offers recreational opportunities such as: Horseshoe Farm Park, Durant Road Park, Blue Jay Point County Park, Millbrook Exchange Park, Off-leash dog park, Greenway trails and CASL Soccer Complex.

    Schools

    Wake County has an excellent school system. Each school is located between 5 and 20 minutes of the community.

    Shopping

    Many shopping opportunities exist with the largest malls which include: Crabtree Valley Mall, Triangle Town Center, The Streets at Southpoint. Boutique shopping can be found at North Hills and The Shops of Cameron Village, and located within a short drive are: Super Wal-Mart, Super Target, Lowe's, Home Depot, Staples and PetSmart.

    Transportation

    This area is surprisingly well-equipped to handle the road traffic. The Northwest Hwy added to our system is the I-540 outer belt line, which connects Northern and Eastern Raleigh to the RTP, with easier access. This beltway will eventually be extended into the Southern end, also providing easier access and shorter drives. The public transportation would include Capital Area Transit System (CATS) and the DATA (Durham Area Transit Authority). This area is also extremely bicycle and pedestrian friendly. Many people use the Triangle Transit Authority that work or live in or near the research triangle park. The TTA provides ride-sharing and van-pooling opportunities. RDU International Airport is an easy 25 minute drive from Highland Creek.
